Methods for artificial evolution of active components, such as programs and hardware, are rapidly developing branches of adaptive computation and adaptive engineering. They include the development, evaluation and application of methods that mirror the process of the Darwinian theory of natural selection and produce, as results, computational expressions, e.g. algorithms, or machines, e.g. mechanical or electronic devices. This book will be devoted to reporting innovative and significant progress in automatic evolutionary design methodology of machines. Both theoretical papers (preferably including simulations) and application papers are welcome. Papers describing evolutionary hardware implementations are encouraged. The main topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Evolvable Hardware;
  • Genetic Programming;
  • Evolutionary Robotics;
  • Evolutionary Machine design Experience.
The time schedule for this publication is as follows:
  1. Manuscript submission: January 30th., 2004 (Closed)
  2. Authors Notification: April 2nd., 2004 (Delayed - April 8th., 2004
  3. Camera-ready submission: April 30th., 2004
